GiroDisc Front Iron Rotor Conversion for Ferrari 599 GTB

Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors from GiroDisc are a 2-piece, fully floating iron rotor conversion, a direct replacement for the OE CCM (carbon ceramic) front disc on the Ferrari 599 GTB (F141), delivering iron rotor benefits including better cold bite, a wider pad compound selection, and significantly lower replacement cost than CCM. The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors are built to GiroDisc’s own metallurgical and engineering specifications, manufactured in-house at their facility in Bellingham, WA. Note: a brake pad with a 66mm annulus (shapes 1382 or 1405) is required. OEM CCM pads are not compatible.

Why Convert to GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB Front Rotors?

  • The Ferrari 599 GTB is equipped from the factory with CCM (carbon ceramic) brakes, a system that demands ceramic-specific pads, delivers less cold bite than iron, and carries significant replacement cost when worn. The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors convert the factory CCM caliper setup to iron, eliminating all three limitations in a single conversion. The rotor is designed to keep weight at a sensible level by specifying a pad with a 66mm annulus (shapes 1382 or 1405) rather than matching the full OEM CCM swept area, which would produce an excessively heavy iron rotor. The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors are machined from a proprietary high-carbon iron casting to GiroDisc’s own metallurgical specification, with a curved-vane design developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump, forcing cooling air through the disc under hard braking. The 2-piece fully floating design uses 12 high-strength alloy steel drive pins manufactured in-house and cadmium-plated for long-term corrosion resistance that take the braking load while maintaining axial and radial float between the hat and disc. Anti-noise spring washers allow the rotor to expand under heat while eliminating the rattle associated with floating rotors; the float also allows the rotor to self-center between the pads. When the disc wears out, only the ring needs replacing; the aluminum hat is reusable.

Ferrari 599 GTB Front Rotors: Construction and Materials

  • The central hat section of the GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors is machined from 6061-T6 aircraft-specification aluminum sourced in the USA, finished in black anodize. The disc is made from GiroDisc’s own proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined from start to finish in-house at GiroDisc’s Bellingham, WA facility. Drive pins are class 12.9 cap-screwed with hardened washers and cadmium-plated high-strength alloy steel, manufactured in-house to GiroDisc’s own specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why convert the Ferrari 599 GTB to iron front rotors? The 599 GTB’s factory CCM brakes require ceramic-specific pads, deliver less cold bite than iron, and carry significant replacement cost when worn. The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors convert the CCM caliper setup to iron delivering better cold bite, access to a much wider range of pad compounds, and significantly lower rotor replacement cost going forward.
  • What pad shape do the GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors require? The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors require a brake pad with a 66mm annulus specifically pad shapes 1382 or 1405. OEM CCM pads are not compatible. Contact GiroDisc directly for specific pad compound recommendations and part numbers.
  • Do the GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors use the factory calipers? Yes. The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors are a direct replacement for the OE CCM disc using the factory calipers no caliper changes, bracket modifications, or additional hardware are required beyond sourcing compatible pads with the correct 66mm annulus.
  • What are the benefits of the GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors over OEM CCM? The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB front rotors deliver better cold bite, a far wider pad compound selection, and significantly lower replacement cost than CCM. The 2-piece fully floating design allows the iron ring to expand thermally without distorting the aluminum hat, maintaining consistent pedal feel across repeated hard stops.
  • Is there a matching rear iron rotor conversion for the Ferrari 599 GTB? Yes. The GiroDisc Ferrari 599 GTB rear iron rotor conversion (A2-075) is available separately and recommended for a matched front-to-rear iron conversion with consistent braking balance and pad compound choice across both axles.

About GiroDisc

Founded in 2003, GiroDisc set out to revolutionize performance braking by designing and manufacturing two-piece brake rotors engineered to perform flawlessly under extreme conditions. Traditional one-piece rotors are heavy, retain heat, and increase unsprung weight, which hurts handling; GiroDisc’s fully floating design uses tension hardware for silent street operation while delivering track-ready performance. By focusing exclusively on this specialized niche, GiroDisc has advanced its engineering and manufacturing to industry-leading standards, letting enthusiasts upgrade their existing brake systems without the expense and complexity of a big brake kit. Based in Bellingham, Washington, GiroDisc handles every aspect of production on site, from design and engineering to manufacturing and fulfillment.
