The HKS TYPE-S Spoiler Set for ZN8 GR86 owners bundles three parts of the HKS BODY KIT TYPE-S in one order: the front spoiler, the side skirts and the rear spoiler. Each main piece is FRP with a gel-coat finish that needs painting, and each carries CFRP barge panels styled after the HKS racing cars. HKS lists the set for the FA24 powered GR86. It suits an owner who wants the complete lower TYPE-S look fitted and painted in one visit to the body shop; anyone after only the carbon canards, duck tail or rear wing needs those parts separately.
Design and Performance
- HKS shaped the three pieces to work together. The front spoiler carries an under panel intended to add downforce and high-speed stability, the side skirts are matched to the front and rear downforce levels to improve underbody airflow, and the fin-shaped rear spoiler straightens the airflow around the back of the car to balance the package. Development followed the TYPE-S approach of 3D CAD and aerodynamic analysis.

- What parts come in the TYPE-S Spoiler Set for ZN8? The TYPE-S Spoiler Set for ZN8 includes three parts of the HKS BODY KIT TYPE-S: the front spoiler with its under panel, the left and right side skirts, and the three-section rear spoiler, each with CFRP barge panels and an accessory kit. The carbon canards, carbon duck tail spoiler and carbon rear wing are not included and are sold separately.
- Is the spoiler set made of carbon fiber? No. The front spoiler, side skirts and rear spoiler are FRP with a gel-coat finish, and HKS states that painting is required. The barge panels on all three parts are CFRP. HKS makes the canards, duck tail and rear wing of the TYPE-S kit in carbon, but those parts are not in this set.
- Is drilling required to install the set? Yes. The front spoiler mounts through eight 6.5mm holes in the front bumper, and the side skirts need five 6.5mm holes in the factory side skirt and a 5.5mm hole in the front fender garnish. HKS states that installation requires modification of vehicle body panels, so a body shop that can also paint the parts is the best choice.
- How long does installation take? HKS quotes about 1.5 hours for the front spoiler, about 3 hours for the side skirts and about 1.5 hours for the rear spoiler, so roughly 6 hours of fitting for the full set. That time does not include painting, which has to be completed first on the gel-coat FRP parts before any of them go on the GR86.
- Does the spoiler set fit the Subaru BRZ? No. HKS lists this set for the ZN8 Toyota GR86 only and offers a separate HKS BODY KIT TYPE-S for the Subaru BRZ. BRZ owners should order from that line instead, and Bulletproof Automotive can confirm the correct HKS part numbers for a BRZ before an order is placed.
