J’s Racing Hyper Intercooler for FK8 Honda Civic Type R [ICR-K8]
The J’s Racing Hyper Intercooler for FK8 Honda Civic Type R was developed with radiator manufacturer DRL and validated on the Dynapack dyno, the street, and the circuit. The all-aluminum core replaces the factory intercooler directly, and its internally finned tubes, rounded convex leading edges, and folded-edge double outer fins pull intake air temperatures down by roughly 5C at minimum readings and 15C or more at the peaks, exactly where the K20C1 loses power to heat.
Construction
- Rather than plain tubes, the core runs a multi-hole internal fin structure that multiplies heat-exchange surface inside each tube, wrapped in rectangular outer fins with a folded-edge double structure for strength and stone resistance in triple-layer aluminum. At 690mm wide by 172mm tall and 100mm thick, the core weighs just 5.4 kg. On the stock ECU the factory limiter control caps the gains, so J’s Racing recommends pairing the intercooler with engine management tuning to unlock its full benefit.
