Öhlins DFV Road & Track Coilovers for 8V Audi RS3

The Öhlins Road & Track coilovers for Audi RS3 8V are built for one of the most performance-focused compact cars in Audi’s lineup. The RS3 8V arrives with a turbocharged five-cylinder, quattro all-wheel drive, and genuine performance intent from the factory; this kit gives the chassis the damping capability to keep pace with all of that, whether you’re running the car hard on a circuit or making the most of it on a twisting back road.

How the DFV System Works

Öhlins’ Dual Flow Valve (DFV) technology handles the transition between road and race damping with a single adjustment. Turning the gold knob clockwise engages race mode across all four damping zones at once: low-speed compression, high-speed compression, low-speed rebound, and high-speed rebound. Reverse it and the damper returns to a relaxed road setting. No tools, no separate adjustments per corner. On track, the DFV internals respond quickly to surface changes, keeping all four tires loaded through corners and stable under the hard braking the RS3 is capable of. The quattro platform already puts power down with confidence; this kit gives the chassis the damping support to extract more from that traction at the limit and keep the car balanced and predictable when you’re pushing it. Off track, the same system softens its response and filters road imperfections without the harshness that typically comes with a performance spring rate.

Suspension Specs and Construction

The front uses McPherson strut monotube upside-down technology, positioning the damper mass lower in the assembly to reduce unsprung weight and sharpen turn-in response. The front runs a 70 N/mm spring rate with a spring preload adjuster and uses the original Audi top mounts. The rear uses a conventional shock absorber with an 80 N/mm spring rate and a spring preload adjuster, also retaining the original top mounts. The stiffer rear rate supports the RS3’s weight distribution and keeps the rear axle composed under the lateral and longitudinal loads a track session puts through the suspension. Both ends use a single adjuster covering compression and rebound damping together, keeping the setup process clean without sacrificing meaningful adjustability.
