The SOUL Performance Valved Muffler Bypass Conversion for the Porsche 986 Boxster unlocks the character hiding in your flat-six while preserving the civility you need day to day. Bolting in place of the factory muffler section, these precision-built bypass pipes deliver true OEM sound with the valves closed, quiet, composed, and neighbor-friendly, with valves defaulting to closed at startup for a refined warm-up. At the press of a button, the valves open and reroute exhaust flow through dedicated dump tubes, bypassing the mufflers to unleash a sharper, race-inspired bark and a classic flat-six roar reminiscent of air-cooled CUP cars. Designed and built in-house at SOUL’s Willow Grove, PA facility using brand-new OEM Porsche muffler piping and application-specific valving, each set is fixture-built and thoroughly tested for excellent fitment, then carefully foam-packed for safe arrival. Valves can be controlled either with the included remotes or integrated into your factory HomeLink buttons when equipped, and like all SOUL components, the 986 Valved Muffler Bypass Conversion is backed by their renowned lifetime warranty for both street and track use.

Development

Their objective was to create a cost-effective valved exhaust system that seamlessly transitioned from “Cruising Sunday” mode to “Track Day” mode with a simple press of a button. The default setting was designed to have the valves closed, ensuring a refined startup experience without disturbing the garage’s or neighboring residences’ tranquility. A key priority was to minimize drone during operation. Recognizing the opportunity provided by Porsche’s inclusion of a removable section of piping in the exhaust system, they ingeniously incorporated valved Muffler Bypass tubes in this ideal location.

Construction

Every set is meticulously crafted in-house by Soul’s skilled fabrication team, using brand-new OEM Porsche muffler piping and purpose-built valves specifically designed for the application. The valves are set to a closed mode by default, ensuring seamless integration with the vehicle’s original configuration.

Sound

Rest assured, when starting up your Boxster in your garage, there is no need to worry as the valves are closed by default. This ensures that the original Porsche driving characteristics and exhaust note are preserved until you choose to open the valves. Once you do, you will be greeted with an assertive bark as the mufflers are bypassed, delivering an aggressive and captivating sound experience.
With the valves open, the exhaust gases are directed through the dump tubes, unleashing a resounding flat-six roar.
